Since I don’t get to spend much time in my hometown anymore, I thought I’d share a few photos from my time in Chicagoland over Christmas.
I had a great trip and loved the chance to catch up with family and friends, especially after my first few months living in Ireland. Although I had to finish a couple of papers while there (boooo), my time home was punctuated with wine-laden family dinners, trips to our favorite Flaco’s Tacos, our hilarious metal christmas tree, my wonderful dad’s 60th birthday, and, of course, the second annual Glen Ellyn bar crawl. Other highlights included a private tour of Fermilab’s Tevatron, a Christmas Eve visit to the Lincoln Park Zoo (Lion!), and our traditional viewing of the Joffrey Ballet’s Nutcracker.
Special shoutout to my Bryn Mawr biddy Kristin for coming out to spend New Year’s with me and for enabling my Nancy Drew computer game addiction.
I’m bummed that I won’t be back for quite a while, but nothing warms my heart more than being back in Chicago and Glen Ellyn during the holidays. Even though Christmastime can be especially stressful, all of the planes to catch and dates to keep and gifts to get are always worth those few days of just hanging around and catching up and remembering you have this crazy great life. Here’s to another good year!
